Concept

It began from an interest in social media identity, after discussion we decided we both were focusing in on Facebook.

We created the idea of holding public events as performances around raising awareness of the construction of identity. During the process of planning these events we realized there needed more depth for it to be performance and have public interaction. The branding made it appear more serious and professional therefore enhancing the fake narrative. After speaking to Bryony it made us question our involvement in the events.

After extensive research into relevant artists, social theory and collaboration we developed the concept of founding the organization Facebookaholics. Which would be used as the branding throughout our event’s and therefore become a large part of our work. This enabled us to be professional and take performances seriously, presenting ourselves as founders of the organization.

We found it important to construct an ethos for our organization which setout the organizations values and intentions. The projects use of continuous fake narrative relates back to mine and Tess’ previous practice. We planned events to be held as part of research and pilot scheme to further develop the work and construction of Facebookaholics.
