Les Liens Invisibles – Seppukoo

Les liens Invisibles are an imaginary art group based in Italy, Facebook’s new privacy settings caused an uproar, Les Liens Invisibles decided to create what they believe to be a ‘anti-social network’. This offers the public the chance to breakdown and destroy their virtual identities, alongside a memorial page.

The only form of popularity on the network is to reach the leader board is to collect scores by friends also joining you by killing off their Facebook identity with Seppukoo. Which although promotes virtual suicide, does in some forms promote the idea of competition. The website’s name is derived from the practice of ritual suicide named seppuku. Within this ritual Japanese Samauri warriors would restore their honour. This is transferrable to the ‘liberation of the digital body’ within modern society.

The website itself is seen as a playful protest that is hoping to help the public avoid the social mortal coil.
